The UK downstream industry for space applications is a vibrant, high-technology market estimated at 5billion in 2007/08, with a growth rate which, at 10% per annum, is three times the rate of growth of the UK economy between 1999 and 2008. The East Midlands region is right at the centre of this market, largely due to the close links that have been established between our leading industrial sectors and our internationally recognised space research universities.

As one of Europe's leading GNSS companies, NSL actively participate in, and are fully supportive of, the activities that promote our region as the UK leader in space technologies.

The following provides an overview of some of the regional establishments with whom we work and collaborate.

GRACE (GNSS Research and Applications Centre of Excellence) is the UK's only facility devoted to developing downstream applications using GNSS technology across industry and the public sector. link

IESSG The Institute of Engineering Surveying and Space Geodesy at the University of Nottingham is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in satellite navigation- based technology and applications, including Global Positioning System GPS and Galileo. link

innovITS ADVANCE innovITS ADVANCE provides a safe, comprehensive and fully controllable purpose built 'cityscape' test track environment which enables clients to test, validate and demonstrate new innovations through 'plug and play' simplicity. link

emda The East Midlands Development Agency is one of nine Regional Development Agencies in England, set up in 1999 by Government to bring a regional focus to economic development. link

Nereus The East Midlands is one of the 23 founding member regions of the Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies - an international non-profit association working with the European Commission and the European Parliament in policy issues concerning the development and exploitation of space technologies and applications.link

De Montfort University (DMU) works closely with industry to develop new products that use GNSS location techniques. link

MIRA is renowned as a leading design, testing, consultancy and certification organisation. By integrating innovative design and simulation techniques with validation in over 30 major test facilities, MIRA provides pioneering expertise across the entire range of transport technologies. link

The National Space Centre As the UK's foremost visitor attraction and education facility dedicated to space, the National Space Centre is leading the way in increasing understanding of the importance of space science and technology. 200,000 people visit the centre annually, including space specialists and industrial companies. link
